Sustainability Studies Minor
Sustainability Studies provides the tools to enable students to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. As students and teachers we create and shape a learning environment which balances environmental protection, economic vitality, and social responsibility thereby shaping a framework to provide the basic needs of health, food, water, shelter, and transportation.
Interdisciplinarity
The goal of Sustainability Studies is to guide individuals to voluntarily assess and satisfy basic needs and implement sustainable practice by participating creatively in dynamically responsive interconnected communities. As an avenue for creating synergies among disciplines, the Sustainability Studies Minor complements the student’s major degree program in disciplines that reflect sustainable practice. With guidance from the Sustainability Studies Faculty, the Minor provides a roadmap for students to explore discipline-specific knowledge in sustainability, and apply this knowledge to the design, selection, and implementation of values, practices, technologies, and strategies.
