What to Expect
You'll Hear From Us
As soon as we receive your application, a $100 deposit, plus a $200 prepayment (or financial aid award letter), your application will be ready to process when assignments are made during the month of June. We accept applications 11 months in advance. You do not have to be admitted to UNM at the time you submit your housing application.

Room assignments are mailed out the first week of July and then periodically as new assignments are made. You'll also receive reminders about New Student/Transfer Student Orientation and Move-In days (Rez Hall-a-Daze) There will be plenty of social opportunities during Rez Hall-a-Daze to help you meet new friends.

What's In Your Room
Your room or apartment will contain the basics, but there are items you'll want to bring (and things you shouldn't bring!). Your room comes with:
  • Bed (80" extra-long twin)
  • Dresser drawers
  • Desk & chair
  • Bookshelves
  • Lights
  • Drapes or blinds
  • Wastepaper basket
  • Closet
  • Air conditioning
  • Free cable TV
  • Free high speed internet access!

Residents in apartment style residence halls will also have:

  • Shared full kitchen with refrigerator, stove and microwave
  • Dining area with table and chairs
  • Living room with couch, 2 chairs, coffee table, 2 end tables
