Housekeeping & Maintenance Services

Emergency maintenance is available when a situation

  • involves security issues, such as a broken window or outside door lock on the first floor
  • could cause personal injury, such as an arcing electrical wire or broken glass in a shower
  • could cause property damage, such as flooding in a bathroom
Report the problem to the front desk or contact the RA on duty (contact information available at front desk). For emergency maintenance on weekends and after hours, contact the SRC Desk at 277-9203. You're not permitted to contact emergency maintenance yourself.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping is responsible for keeping the public areas of all residence halls clean. You need to clean your own room or apartment. Our staff also follows up on work orders and tracks residents' storage items. Specific custodians and maintenance technicians are assigned to each building to provide a sense of continuity and improve service. If you remember to say thank-you, you'll make another friend.
Routine Maintenance

Maintenance staff keep the residence halls in good repair, including both residents' rooms and public areas. Submit a Work Order if you notice a problem such as burned out bulbs, leaky faucets, or windows that won't open. We try to respond to work orders in three business days, but sometimes delays occur. If you have questions about the status of your work order(s), contact your front desk, the Maintenance Office at 277-3402, or the Housekeeping Office at 277-2816.

Light bulbs are available at the SRC desk, West & East desks also. Please bring your burnt out bulb for exchange.

For system- or building-wide repairs, we contact University Physical Plant. Of course, completion time varies to fix major problems with heating and air-conditioning, plumbing, or electrical systems. We do our best to ensure that problems - large or small - are taken care of in a timely manner.
