Inspections, Fines, & Keys

As a resident, you are responsible for missing University property and damage to the room or suite. On check-in to the residence halls, you will be given an inventory card specifying the physical condition of your room. Carefully record the condition of each item listed on the inventory card. Your advisor will check to confirm the initial condition of your room.

On checkout, your advisor will inventory your room again to ascertain any damages beyond normal wear and use. The Housing Services Office will assess charges when the damage is reported. Damages to public areas or the dining hall will be charged to the responsible party. All residents may also share collective financial responsibility for damage that occurs in public areas or the dining hall.

You will not be charged when you request maintenance or housekeeping work for a problem that's accidental or normal wear. However, if a problem has been caused by vandalism or misuse, a charge will be assessed based on the materials and labor required.

Lost or Stolen Keys

Please report lost or stolen keys to your front desk immediately, so we can ensure your safety.

You'll have 72 hours to recover your key (except at the end of a term) prior to our installing a new lock. You may request an immediate lock change when you report a missing key.

Your student account will be charged for the lock change and new keys.
