Room & Roommate Changes
Room Change Procedures
Are you unhappy with your room or roommate? We process Room Change Request forms (also available at your Residence Hall Front Desk) at the posted deadline during the first week of each semester and afterwards as space permits. To change your room, submit a completed room change form to your residence hall front desk. Approval of room changes, which depends on available space, is at the discretion of the Student Head Resident or Area Coordinator.
Instructions
  • You must complete and return the Room Change Request form to the front desk of your hall.
  • Complete all sections of the form. Failure to provide information can cause delay in the processing of your request.
  • Fill out every question in the personal information section.
  • Indicate the hall, room, and/ or type of room you want to move to, why you would like to make the change, and obtain the necessary signatures.
  • If you are applying for a change into a specific room, make sure the space is either vacant or will be vacant; requests for specific spaces that are occupied will be denied.
  • If you are requesting any available room or any available type of room, please indicate your hall and room type preference.
  • Sign the form.
  • Obtain the signatures of your current roommates, your future roommates, and your current Resident Advisor. The signatures of your current roommates serve to inform them that you are moving; roommate signatures are for information only. They may not stop your move.
  • If you are under 18 years of age and are requesting to move from a double room to a single or double-as-single room, you must have parental permission.
  • After you've submitted your form to your hall desk, the Student Head Resident/Area Coordinator will review all requests and notify you of the decision via your SRC mailbox.
  • If two or more people request the same space, the person who has lived in the residence halls for the most consecutive semesters will be awarded the space.
  • Failure to complete your move by the deadline will cancel the room change.
  • Please submit all paperwork before the posted room change deadlines for room change period moves, or promptly for mid-semester moves.
  • Improper room/apartment change fees may be assessed for moves without proper authorization.
