Residence Life Program

You enter UNM poised for tremendous growth. Our goal is to help youreach that potential through on-campus opportunities for fun,independence, and self-governance. Therefore, in addition to the emphasis on academic development, theResidence Life Program plans activities and programs to foster social interactionand develop well-rounded students.

These include intereactions with RA staff, studentdiscipline, activities promoted through the Residence Hall Association, and participation in Community Associations. Individual hall communityassociations are a form of student government where the residents hold officerpositions and plan building improvements and programs.

Residence Life Program Responsibilities

  • Staff and supervise resident advisors and student head residents
  • Staff and supervise residence hall front desks, mailroom, cellar & security staff
  • Plan social and educational activities for residents
  • Provide para-professional peer counseling
  • Advise the Residence Hall Association and the building or complex Community Associations
  • Enforce University policies and adjudicate residence hall discipline
  • Work with the Housing and Food Services departments (facilities, room assignments, payments, maintenance, housekeeping and food service)
