Create a new class

To import your cps roster into your cps database for the first time, you will need to use the einstruction website.
  1. Go to www.einstruction.com and login with your instructor username and password.
  2. Click on "CPS Connection" on the left menu.
  3. Click on "Export Roster to CPS" at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Click "Browse" and locate the CPS database file with the ".cps" extension.
  5. Click "Open Database"
  6. Select "Define New Class" and type a name for the class.
  7. Click on "Export to CPS"
  8. When it finishes, you should see the class under the "Classes" tab in CPS.

Update or Sync a class

The easiest way to update your class roster in CPS is from within the CPS program, with your database open.

  1. Go to the "Classes" tab.
  2. Right click on the class you want to update (probably the only class), and then click on "CPSOnlineSync"

The CPS software will stop responding for about 4 to 5 minutes, but trust that it is actually working, and will resurrect itself when it finishes syncing.

Deleting Students from your CPS roster

  1. Open your CPS database, and go to the "Classes" tab.
  2. If you need to sort the list of students, click on the appropriate heading. Click it again to sort the list backwards. i.e.: If you want to sort the list by last name, click the heading at the top of the last name column that says "Last Name".

  3. When you locate a student you want to delete, right click on the name, and click delete. Click "OK" on the confirmation window.

Creating a Lesson for CPS

  1. Go to the "Lessons" tab in your CPS database.
  2. Click on "Tools" and then on "New Lesson...".
  3. Give the lesson a "Title", "Description" and "Unique Identifier:" and click "OK"
  4. Now, highlight the new lesson that appears in the left column of your CPS database. Click the "Tools" button again, but this time select "New Question..."
  5. Type your question in the top field and multiple choice answers in the next four fields. Make sure to put a checkmark next to the correct answer.
  6. Click "Question" from the menu at the top, and then "Save"

Engaging a lesson in CPS

Note: The ways that lessons are engaged in CPS depends entirely on the "Delivery Options," which can be changed at any time in the "Delivery Options," found in the "Settings" menu.

  1. From your database in CPS, go to the "Lessons" tab and click on the lesson you want to engage, and then on the button "Engage Lesson(s)".
  2. On the options window that pops up, you will notice the following options:
  3. Now, click "Start."
  4. It probably won't actually show the first question until you click "Next."
