Right now as the forums are new there won't be much in terms of rules. It just depends on how things get abused as we get more users.
1. No pornography. This is kind of a no brainer, but I think it must be addressed. This forum is on university servers so a certain standard must be kept. Since at the moment we do allow nudity and potentially that line between nudity and pornography can get fuzzy. We will simply delete posts at our discretion, with no consequence to that user. Although if a particular user becomes a problem banning that person may be considered.
2. Inappropriate material should be posted in the
Mature Audiences section. Again this can be a fuzzy line, but most of us have a general idea what this means. I'd say basically anything over a "PG-13" rating should go there. This would include nudity and
excessive profanity.
3. Be civil to each other. Currently this will be one of those loosely defined rules unless it becomes a problem. As debates can get heated insults may start to fly. Currently if a certain thread gets out of control it will most likely just be locked. If a particular user becomes a problem we will contact that personal privately and ultimately they may be banned, temporarily. If insults start to become common place, then stricter rules will have to be set.
Other things to note:
Currently the forums are setup to allow images to be included, either uploaded with your post or included in line. Flash, like YouTube videos, can embedded as well. Just try to be considerate about what kind of material you include, avoid inappropriate outside the
Mature Audiences section. Also be considerate about how large the image is to avoid annoying users. Abuse of these features means we will have to adjust them or turn them off altogether.
