Physical Therapy is a health care profession whose primary purpose is the promotion of optimal human performance through the application of sound scientific principles to the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of acute and chronic movement dysfunction. The Physical Therapy Program at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center consists of a three-year curriculum of professional course work and clinical training.
Students are admitted once a year, with classes beginning in the summer. The application deadline is January 15 of each year.
The UNM Physical Therapy Program is in the process of transitioning to a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). Although the date for this process is uncertain, it is our goal to begin the DPT curriculum in Fall 2008. This statement is subject to change.
